Toby Keith’s Oklahoma Twister Relief Concert wasn’t the only event announced this week to help out victims of the recent tornadoes that devastated areas of the Sooner State. Kings of Leon and The Flaming Lips have signed on for the “Rock For Oklahoma” concert.

“Rock For Oklahoma” takes place July 23 at the same venue that hosted Blake Shelton’s “Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert” – Oklahoma City’s Chesapeake Arena.

Although the Healing in the Heartland event raised more than $6 million in pledges and ticket sales, Oklahomans could still use more help. The tornado that struck the Moore, Okla., May 20 caused overall damage estimated as high as $2 billion, according to the Associated Press.

Another series of deadly tornadoes hit the Oklahoma City area May 31. The AP reports that a total of 48 deaths have been blamed on the May storms.

The lineup for “Rock For Oklahoma” also includes Jackson Browne and Built to Spill. Proceeds will go to central Oklahoma community organizations and charities, according to Tulsa World.

“Shakespeare said ‘It is not enough to help the needy up, but to support them after’ and in our small way we are trying to not just be here at the moment of immediate need, but to stay and help with the rebuilding,” Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne said. “After all, this is our home and they are us and we are them.” Read more on this story here..
